WHO IS RECFISHING RESEARCH?

Recfishing Research is a national Subprogram for the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation, established to guide investment in national Research, Development and Extension (RDE) addressing key priorities of the recreational fishing community. Importantly, Recfishing Research also plays an important role in communicating research results to the recreational fishing community.

Recfishing Research’s steering committee is made up of 10 individuals from the recreational fishing community around Australia who offer expertise in social and biological sciences, economics, advocacy, fisheries management, and R&D project management.

Andrew Rowland

Andrew is the Chief Executive Officer of Recfishwest, WA peak recreational fishing body representing the interests of the states estimated 600,000 fishers. Andrew holds a PhD is fisheries science. He has an excellent understanding of ecology and fisheries in freshwater, estuarine and marine environment. He has a strong interesting in research communications and community engagement projects. Andrew is a keen recreational fisher who enjoys targeting a broad range of species.
