What is Saddleback Syndrome? and what causes it?

 

Recently recreational fishos in south east Queensland have been raising concerns about bream, luderick and other species with deformed backs that are turning up in estuaries in and around the Gold coast region. In this article Recfishing Research summarises information gathered through an FRDC-funded project to understand what causes this condition, known as 'Saddleback syndrome', how prevalent it is, and what may help address it.
