A Socioeconomic Evaluation Of Three Eastern Australian Game-Fishing Regions

 

You only have to look at the circus at any boat ramp in Portland during tuna season to know that game fishing is worth big money to coastal communities. But putting an exact dollar figure on it can be tricky. This study estimated the economic value of recreational game fishing to three eastern Australian sites (Mooloolaba, Port Stephens and Bermagui) between December 2010 and May 2011, confirming the importance of game fishing to these communities.
