In many respects Mangrove Jack are the pinnacle of estuary fishing in northern NSW and southeast Queensland.
They offer the royal flush of growing big, pulling hard, looking great, tasting even better and being relatively plentiful and targetable under the right conditions. And if the saying “it’s the ones you don’t catch that keep you coming back” is accurate, Jacks have more to answer for in terms of the legions of addicted fishos haunting tackle shops than any other species, hands-down.
